Vitria Once Again Featured in Software Magazine's Prestigious Software 500 List For 2004

Vitria Ranks in Top Half of Software Magazine?s Annual Survey of Total Worldwide Software and Service Revenue

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2004 -- Vitria (Nasdaq: VITR), a leading provider of business process integration solutions, today announced that it was once again named to Software Magazine?s annual Software 500 list, a revenue-based ranking of the world?s leading software and services suppliers to the enterprise. The survey revealed particularly strong positive growth in systems-integration services and infrastructure management. With software and services revenue of $80.7 million, Vitria ranked number 203 on the 2004 list.

Now in its 22nd year, the Software 500 is a comprehensive look at the software industry targeting enterprise IT organizations with software and services. The list includes both private and public companies. 2004?s Software 500, featured in the September 2004 issue of Software Magazine, can be viewed online at http://www.softwaremag.com/L.cfm?Doc=2004-09/2004-09software-500.

"It is an honor to be named among such venerable company," Vitria?s CEO Dale Skeen said of being named to the 2004 Software 500. "We work hard to solve our customers? business process integration challenges and our focus on improving their bottom line does not waver. We thank our customers for their ongoing support."

The 2004 ranking is based on total worldwide software and service revenue for calendar 2003 or the closest fiscal year ending in 2003. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training, and software-related services and consulting. The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by the staff of Softwaremag.com.
